Hi, I'm hoping someone may be able to help, as I'm very cold right now!

I've got a Ferroli F30. When turning on the CH, the pressure increases very high (over 3bar), and vents out through the safety valve. Then when cold, there is little pressure left. From reading other posts on this forum, I think I need to recharge the expansion vessel.

In the boiler, I can just about see the big red expansion vessel. But where abouts is the valve and how do you get to it? I'm hoping you don't need to take the whole front off?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks
James

should be on the top of the "big red thing" tucked at the back of the boiler, should be accessable.

Having a nightmare trying to get to it.... It's flush with the boiler unit at the front of it, the rear wall, and both cupboard sides.... arhhh.

You'd have thought that they'd have made the top up valve near the front so it's a little easier...

I'll try taking the cupboard to bits, see if that helps....

Cheers for the advice, corgiman.

After taking half the kitchen apart, I've found the valve at the bottom right of the vessel.

I've pumped it up a little, but water just comes out of the pressure release valve (3 bar one), with hardly any pressure in. I've taken the inside of this valve out, cleaed the rubber bits, and also attemted to clean around the surfact that the rubber contacts back inside the valve. Put it all back together, but it still leaks.

I guess I should buy a new one - does that sound like the best way forwards?

Thanks for your help

The bit you pump up is the other side of a rubber diaphragm, from the water in the pr valve.
You have to pump up with NO pressure in the ch system - open to atmosphere somewhere. If the water keeps on pumping out of the prv or whatever is open, it means the diaphragm is holed. It should stop once the water is pumped out of the expansion vessel.

And yes, you need a new prv.

Replaced pressure release valve (£10 from gas merchant). Pumped up to 1bar, with zero bar in the main system. Topped up water to 1.2 bar, and 1 bar still in the vessel.

All looks to be working ok at the minute. Proof will be tomorrow morning, to see if there's still 1.2bar when it's cold again.

Thanks for your help. Probably just saved £100 on not having to get someone out.
