Tiling Boxed areas

As a result of fitting a new bathroom I will be boxing in areas such a soil pipe stack etc.

What's the best material to use bearing in mind that I want to tile afterwards. It would be good if I could tile direct, no plastering etc.

If its not in a wet area then just use plasterboard over a 50x50 framework and tile straight onto the plasterboard no skim coat required.

I agree with Jason, but for small areas to be boxed in (waste pipes etc) then you can get away with much smaller section timber.
