I am going to lay footings for a outside building at the top of the garden and want to put the electric feed into it so no disturbance later and will dig in the armoured cable back to the house as the paving is also going down, what size cable will I need ,it will only be used for lawn mowers, hedge trimmers and some lighting.
Also can I just come off the ring main and fit a breaker in the outhouse

How far??

C'mon....we need more info!

You only need 13A? What about in the future?

its about 12m run and yes I could add in the future but would like to get the right size in now

thanks for the advice but it looks like a non starter then as the cable run will cause too much grief, looks like a plug in extension then

Think outside the box. Can the cable run around the house, rather than through it? ;)

Why not install a duct now, ready for when you want to do the job properly?

Hang on, have I missed something? (My speciality!!)

13A, 12m = Dedicated circuit @ 10mm²??

Surely 4mm² SWA would adequately cope?

The OP did not specify exactly to proposed loads, but.....

Managerial speak Crafty. Those courses are setting you on your way ;)

What is the difference at this stage in procedings?

A few quid extra for the cable to ensure it is future proof.

It will be just as easy (difficult) to install a 4mm² SWA as it will to install a 10mm²

I might compromise at 6.0mm² ;)

Point taken, but it doesn't need its own circuit. Unless you're future-proofing, OC!

Yes I can put ducting in for maybe possibly later but I cannot run it on the outside as my and neighbours garage join (was seperate once) I could run it from the consumer unit through the garage but them come to a full stope ,floor is solid just been tiled, kitchen units on the wall , if I took it up the garage wall and under the joist this would mean taking two rooms flooring up which has just been fitted with the skirting over it.
Anybody invented wireless 240v yet?
