My Letterbox has recently started flapping in the wind and we are having to tape it shut at night. Has anybody got any idea how i can stop this happening, or am i doomed to get a new letterbox?

you could try a bit of blue tac in corners as a temp solution.
Do yourself a favour - buy a new letterbox. Get it in a bigger size and do your postie a favour too - there's nothing worse that those awful little flaps with an internal brush then an internal flap - believe me, I have leafletted every one of the 72 houses in our street and I have the scraped knuckles from several of their miserable little letter boxes!
