Hi I want to remove the frame from a door way in my kitchen it used to be a larder. At the moment it has a fridge freezer in there but the wife wants a slightly wider one. Is it safe for me to just remove the door frame? and how would i go about it? is it a case of just prying it away from the wall?

Cheers

we cut them with a reciprocating saw, but any old hand saw will do.

tilt the saw so that it cuts on a slight angle.

once you are most of the way through, the timber should be weak enough to pry away from the plastering, thus allowing you to cut all the way through.

the angled cut will prevent binding. make sure you slope the cut so that the lower half of the casing can be removed first.
