Sticking doors: hinge adjustments?

I have been tiling my bathroom floor, so I removed the door first.
After finishing tiling, I planed the door bottom and refitted the door.
Clearance at the bottom of the door is OK, but the door catches at the side -- bottom, latch side. Even using force, the door will not close. Also, the hinges seem "tight" -- the door springs back a little if you attempt to close it.
Before I start sanding or planing the offending side, I was thinking of adjusting the hinges. The hinge screws seemed to go in *too* easily. Maybe using larger screws or packing the screw holes will improve matters. If I tighten up the lower hinge screws it may pull the offending area in.
Any ideas?

sounds like it is 'hinge bound' to me.

some fitters use a cut up fag packet to pack the hinges away from the frame.

otherwise you will need to plane the hinge side to suit.

it could be the casing is in twist or that the casing or door is bowed.

be careful when dowelling old screw holes. if you do all three, with tight fitting dowels, then you can split the casing.

thanks. I did this. Then planed the offending side down to bare wood. It then slotted home OK.
