Hello,

We recently moved and after stripping the study I've found that in the corners of the two exterior walls the plaster has blown and there is a lot of mould/staining. The house had a new roof a year or so ago, as the damp is high up on both walls I think it may have been caused before the new roof was put on. Is there any way of telling if there is still a damp problem or this is the reault of an old leaky roof??

Thanks!!

Mike.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't think of that.

Obviously if there was water running down the walls I would assume it was a current and ongoing damp problem. As there isn't and the house has been empty for so long it isn't quite as easy to tell!!

Is there such a thing as a damp metre??

Cheers.

Sorry Mike, couldn't resist it. Yes you can get damp meters, surveyors use them all the time but I've a got a feeling they may be expensive though; I reakon you may be able to hire one, try trawling your local equipment hire companies. ;)
