I've a long run of standard lap fence panels in concrete slotted posts.
I'd like to cover some of these with climbers.
Are fence panels strong enough to support the garden mesh or expandable trellis with a climber such as clematis?

It's mostly shady by the way. I can't seem to find information of which climbers are heavier than others.
I don't want ivy as it's destroyed previous fence panels.

It would be costly to get the square heavy-duty trellis delivered.
I have some wood and willow branches so I could knock up something myself...

hard to say without seeing it, but you could always make something up so its just infront of the fence
