I'm fitting my new kitchen but using my existing freestanding gas cooker.
Do you have to leave a gap between the oven side and the kitchen unit side
ie: will the heat from the oven effect the kitchen unit#

thanks nyck

you don't need to leave a gap as ovens have seals to keep the heat in, most free standing cookers seem to be 500mm wide. its more of a case of what if you decide in the future you wanted a built in oven/hob:confused: in which case you should leave a standard gap of 600mm (for an under oven housing);)
I would replace it with a new oven with a recessed hob above(a whole cut in the work top) which looks much better, especially when youv'e gone to the bother of fitting a new kitchen.

The new kitchen has wiped me out.
I would of gone for a Eye level double ovan and cut out hob but some thing has to give and it was the oven

thanks nyck
