Riven Stone Slabs

I have just laid some riven stone slabs in my garden. I want to point the gaps with black dye. I am using FRBTONE.

I have a small problem though. After I wipe away the residue mortar with the FEBTONE in it, there remains a black stain.


How can I [1] Remove the stain? [OR]
[2] Avoid the stain seeping into the riven stone?

it doesn't look very good like it is.

They are grey....does it matter??? Dye is black
