Help with Ohms reading on Multimeter XIOLE XL830L

Hi all,
I have just got a Multimeter from ebay. I use to have an old needle one, but it was broken and had to replace it. So I did with the XIOLE XL830L.
I need help because I’ve only used this for Voltage testing, I a complete newbie.
What I need to do is test the resistance on the coils of my car.

Now when I use my multimeter, I get 1.3 on each coil (six pots). I conclude that I’m setting the multimeter to the wrong range.
Can some one help me understand this, in simple enfant language please. (what do I need to set my meter on if I what to be able to get this range)

Now I have the chart OEM chart for the readings.
OEM table ref.

Ignition coil resistance table for 6 cylinder.
Coil primairy 1(-) and 15(+) 0.4 – 0.8 ohms
Coil secondary N.A N.A

Can someone please help!

Plug the black lead to Com
Plug the red lead to the right hand terminal V/ohm/mA
Turn the selector to 6 o'clock (200 ohm range)
Touch the probes together - should read 0 ohms
Measure the coil resistance directly across the coils with the incoming wires disconnected.
 
Cheers, I thought I was doing it wrong.
It stops at 2M but manual says 2M-1K. Is 1K more than 2M? is it over 20M?
 
If you are wanting to read up to 200 ohms (lowest range) then you need to be on the 200 ohms range.
M = Mega or million ohms
K = Kilo or thousand ohms
If you are reading M ohms across the coil then it is open circuit and useless.
Does the meter go to zero when you are on the 200 ohms range and you touch the probes together?

When I do this, it reads 00.8. Does that mean it's a bit off?

Because I should get 0.4 to 0.8 on the coil, but I get 1.3. is it the 00.8 difference that makes my reading faulty?
 
yeah, if you subtract the 0.8 ohms (possibly lead resistance) from your reading then it is within spec :D
