does anyone know about this stuff -
one glazier who's price for it is astronomical says "it is Pilkington and all the others are rubbish"

is this true?

You can only sell using the tools you have and this guy is trying to rubbish other products to better his. ask him for his scientific test results to substantiate this hell run a mile.

For sealed double glazed units, the coating is on the inside (on the inner pane) so cannot wear off.

If you are using coated glass for single glazing then some coatings are not suitable.

The rep may have been thinking of Pilkington Active - with is an exterior coating to keep the glass clean

Even so. all coatings will degrade over time - its just a question of whether this will be before the 10 years when the units start to mist up!
