Hi,
We have a small river that runs through our garden, but recent bad weather (July 2007 and then last month) has resulted in quite a bit of bank erosion (not helped by the dread signal crayfish that burrow into the banks). I know that the best solution is revetment, and that the wood of choice is sweet chestnut poles with woven alder / hazel. We'll then back fill to re-establish the banks. Any tips on where to get the necessary wood. A couple of phone calls and emails have not come up with anything. Is there river friendly mesh that we could apply to the bank to prevent the crayfish burrowing into the sides?
Separate issue to follow on damn construction....
