Hi all
Just a query, my son in law has been asked by a neighbour to build a porch for them.
Can anyone tell me if you can just set too and build a porch without any drawings, planning permission, building regulations etc as this is what they are wanting him to do.
I am very much against him starting it, but as he has been layed off from his job (brickie) he really needs the money.

As long as he keeps it smaller than 3m2 external ground area he will not need planning permission. And as long as the existing front door keeps the porch separate, then he will not need b/regs approval.

He wont need plans if he knows what/how he is going to build it.

Just remind him the requirement for safety glass in critical locations ie doors, adjacent windows and low cills
