Hi all

I am looking for a bit of help as I am hopeless at calculating things.

I am building a wall 36 feet long and 5 blocks high, how many breeze blocks would I need and how much sand and cement ? or is it easier to buy ready mix mortar. The breeze blocks are 18x9x6.

any help would be much appreciated.

Hi

Thanks for that, forgot about the water. No seriously. Last time I tried mixing cement and sand it was a disaster. My wife said I have to get the ready mixed mortar. They selling 20kg bags in B&Q. She reckons I need about 12 bags. Does this sound right ?

yup.

mixing ones own is all about entraining air into the mix.

in other words beating the mix with the required amount of plasticiser. this is best achieved by mechanically (cement mixer) mixing the muck.

oh, don't forget a bit of dust (cement) too. ;)

i wouldve thought that buying ready mixed stuff would work out more expensive???i would always mix my own gear.
