I wonder if anyone can help???
I want to fix a wooden baton to a concrete post, so I can fix my gates to the baton.
Can I drill 3 holes in the centre of the post without splitting the post? starting with a small drill and working up to the size required.
I intend to put bolts through with the excess trimed from the baton side.
Would this be the best option or is there a better/easy way???

Should work, you might get a bit stuck if you come across the steel bars inside the post, but if you start very small and work your way up, only using hammer action on the first hole, you'll be ok.
