Opionions please!

Existing house wall is 225mm solid brick, UB to sit at external corner to allow rear elevation to be continued through. So UB at right angle to existing. 150 x 225 x 245 pad, giving steel 150 bearing leaving 75mm pad set back into rear elevation. Width of pad to suit beam, (152 x 89 x 16 UB G 43, with web diaphrams set for 65mm cavity wall) cant go wider with pad as beam is sitting on external corner, so treating as a pier. Question is 150mm deep OK or 225mm deep!

Cheers!

the s.e. will specify whichever is necessary.

i have found that the majority of padstones we install are 3 courses deep or 225mm.

also, a majority of installations we carry out is onto aerated blockwork.
