Hi, I am about to replace an existing window with a patio door. I am getting the door from wicks, The size of the door is about 10mm less than the opening will be when the window is removed. Any advice or tips on cutting out the brickwork below the window and fitting the new door would be much appreciated. Many thanks Regards TV MAN

you have two choices:

cut with a 12" angle grinder or tooth out the bricks and re lay to suit.

if you decide to grind, then either mark with a level and cut down the line or fix a batten to the wall as a guide. if the bricks are frogged or perf'd they may show after the doors have been fitted.
the perp's may not line up either and may mean ugly silicone filled gaps. even worse, you may have to fit cover beads. yuck!

toothing out is trickier and more work, but more professional. this obviously involves removing alternate bricks and relaying them to suit the door size.
