Oil based Paint

Can anyone help? I\\\'ve bought an old fibreglass canoe that I want to paint. Any idea on the type of paint I should be using. I\\\'ve been told it should be oil based. I don\\\'t want to spend a fortune because the canoe was cheap.

Debbie..just picked this one up...

Give it a light rub down with fine abrasive paper, then a wash down..then a couple of coats of gloss paint.

If your budget can stretch to it try and find marine gloss..you dont need undercoat becasue its too brittle and will flake when the fibre glass expands and contracts with the heat/cold
