Lockshield Valve

My radiators don't appear to have a lockshield valve. There is a control valve (inlet) and what appears to be an outlet going back into the system. Any idea what happens in this situation?

THanks!

Some very old or cheaply installed systems don't have a locksield or return valve.

Nothing to worry about; just prevents you from easily taking individual rads off the wall.... What is it you "actually" want to know?

I'd like to be able to remove it for some behind the rad maintenance. Is the procedure much different?

Well ...... If you don't have a means to isolate that particular radiator, you will have to remove the water from the system by other means prior to radiator removal.
