I have an old surface mounted Mira 8. Since we have had a combi boiler fitted 6 months ago, the hot water pressure has increased massively compared to the old tank fed system and the shower valve clunks when turned on and off.
I am told the Mira 8 will not last long under the new pressure (although I fitted a service pack 2 yrs ago).
Can I do anything to prolong it's life, or is there anything I can directly replace it with without disturbing the tiling?

Pressure reducing valve.

No forget that its toooooo obvious.

For what its worth if you read the manufacturers instructions it says.

Hot and Cold supplies must originate from a cold water cistern and NOT directly from the cold water mains.

But they was written 25 years ago.

can any one confirm the above???
mira have informed me today that the mira 8 is fine on a combi boiler. but a prv will be needed on the cold coming into the house!
i did think that it would be better on the cold to the shower only as the pressure should be the same give or take a little on the hot and cold any how on a combi.

is this there technical talking rubbish??
what i dont understand is why no hot water all together? if only hot is selected then cold pressure is insignificant is it not and i should get hot water. we dont put prvs on mixer taps after all do we???

seems like mira technical aint to clever, completely wrong info given to me
im now asking ....

can anyone direct me to a CHEAP mixer/thermostatic shower that will allow fitting to pipe centres at 154mm.

this shower will be getting thrown away nexy year when i re do the bathroom at the customers house.

thanks
