Seized Shower Hose on Mixer Tap
Reply with quote Thanks

Hope you can help. My shower hose is seized due to limescale on my mixer taps. I live in rented accomadation so I'm not feeling too confident about applying too much pressure to unscrew the nut, the landlord said he's happy for me to deal with it but do you think I should get a plumber around to get the whole mixer tap replaced. Am I likely to get this shower hose unscrewed with some careful but stronger pressure applied to the wrench? Or is it most likely to be stuck fast??

You could always put some insulation tape around the nut and then try removing it with grips or spanner etc. This will prevent pulling metal off or rounding the nut off.

Could try dosing with baking soda or any readily available lime scale remover...limelite is pretty good, you can get it in those supermarket places. Even if you can't remove it all together should help to soften.

Thanks for the advice guys... You were right, this did come lose with a good pair of grips... Unfortunately the plastic fitting inside the plug has broken. It does now look like the whole tap will need replacing...

Thanks for your help though... icon_smile.gif
