Hope you've

a) applied for planning permission

b) put in a proper staircase with a fire door at the top

c) ditto a velux with means of emergency escape*

d) Installed mains linked smoke alarms on main & top landings

e) installed proper joists for the loft floor

etc........

* not sure if this is a national requirement or is unique to certain local authorities.
