Hi all,
I just want to check something, before I buy...
I have a combi boiler which doesn't have a room thermostat and I'd like to include a room thermostat. The boiler is a Sime Mk II, and it says I can fit a thermostat to across two terminals - no problem.
I just need to confirm that most wireless thermostats will also require me to provide mains power directly (ie. it'll be volt-free connection to boiler)
Thanks a lot for any confirmation (or indeed, for putting me straight if I've completely missed the point!)

Yes. All wireless thermostat receivers need a mains supply, and provide volt-free contacts you can use.
The transmitters mostly run on batteries, which last several years.

Cheers Chris for your speedy response.
Is it possible (sensible?) to take power from the boiler itself to avoid having to install a whole load of new wiring / switches / fuse box etc?

Certainly, then the power to all the "heating" stuff goes on and off together.
It's usually done with a piece of 5 core flex. LNE plus the two volt free ones.
