power shower pipework

wanting to replace a very old power shower that was broken when i moved in with a new one, i noticed that the cold water pipe for the shower is branching off the water pipe that feeds the hot water tank from the storage tank. Can anyone tell me if this is gonna effect the performance of my shower?
