hot water coming from cold bathroom taps.

hello

I have about 30 secs to a minutes worth of hot water coming from cold basin and bath taps.

My guess is hot water is coming out through the vent pipe into the CWST and that it is down to either a faulty hot cylinder thermostat or the 3 port valve being stuck open.

Are these correct guesses or could there be something I'm missing.

sounds about right. Easy way to prove though. Go up into your loft and check.

Could be the plumber did not feel like going the whole hog and put the cold and hot snug together

not if you only have that limited amount of hot water before it goes cold, like ben said cold pipe too close to the heating/hot pipes
