My 2001 Punto’s (mk2) power steering keeps cutting out?
Could it be the ECU or will it only be the Power steering motor ? how can I tell?
Is it an easy job to change either ?
Apparently I have read I will still need to get the position sensor calibrated is this expensive?

Che palle! It actually stands for;
Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino
(Italian Automobile Factory of Turin)
Sorry I couldn't help with your problem.

My friends 01 punto has lost his power steering completly

He change the ECU, and something else, bit late to phone him.

but, nothing made any difference.

not what you wanted to hear i suppose, but may save you buying an ecu for nothing!

Is it the one with the "city" button that makes steering very light? If so, press it, see what happens.

I miss my city button :(

Most likely to be the power steering pump.

Try the parts gateway web-site for a new one.

First though I'd recommend lightly tapping the pump with a hammer as sometimes the motor can stick. This worked on my old Saxo and could work on your car, especially if the problem is intermittent.
