replacing tiling underlay/sarking

Is there an easy way to replace the tiling underlay on a 1930's 3 bed semi.
I am looking at purchasing this property and notice all the existing underlay has perished. How much would it cost to do this project.

There is only one way to do it correctly, which is strip roof back to rafters,fit underlay,new batten and retile..

the underlay may only be building paper anyhow.

i would strongly recommend a breathable roofing membrane, should you do decide to replace, as this cancontribute to venting without using an ugly visible alternative.

as indeed would overfascia vents.
