Please bare with me as I know next to nothing about plumbing.
I have a Baxi Solo 2 40 PF combi boiler in my house and it has just stopped working, ie no heating or hot water. I just wondered if anyone could give me a few pointers as to what to check before I call a plumber out, perhaps unneccesarily.

For what its worth the boiler flame isn't and and won't come on?

Thanks in advance

You need to find out if there is 240V at the boiler switched live terminal first. If there isn't it will be a fault with the controls or maybe simply the 3 amp fuse gone in the fused switch outlet.

Thanks for a quick reply!

As I said above I am a complete novice, only been in the house for 6 months and it's my first house, I haven't got the first idea where to look for the things you describe. Is there any chance of a bit more detail?

Thanks in advance

Don't really want to fork out on a plumber until I am certain it's not something obvious.

Everything seems to be responding apart from the pilot light won't light. The boiler seems to kick in but stops short of lighting the pilot. This sort of thing happened when I first moved in and I just reset everything and it started to work but doing the same does not solve the problem.

It would happen at bank holiday weekend, even if I need to get out a plumber there isn't much chance of sorting it this weekend!
