knock a 1" circular peg in the ground.

cut a 30mm hole in a piece of 3 x 1" timber and slot it over the peg.

you now have a compass. the length of the timber will determine the radius of the circle.

you can use the compass for marking out the footings and use it to build the brickwork.

try and knock the peg in upright and leave enough length on the peg to deal with the height of the well. a 2' high well will need a 2' high peg.

Strut and trammel IIRC ;)

You may need to build the wall in headers, as stretches wont give a good curved face

Plumb and level at quarter points of the circumference

Its certainly easier to knock a peg in the ground and nail a trammel to it.
I agree you will need to use brick headers to obtain a good radius -take your time as this is not easy for a novice to do well plumb regularly
