Sorry for being a complete innocent, we all have to start somewhere.

We have just had our bathroom completely re fitted. Looks great. Only we’ve got a problem with the shower. The water is provided by a combi through a Bathstore contour dual lever bath shower mixer.

http://www.bathstore.com/_application/bathstore/products/taps/contour-taps/

To use in shower mode you pull the lever up. The pressure with the cold tap is enough to keep it in place but the hot is not. According to the brochure this tap needs 0.2 bar, the combi is showing 1 bar. We had no problems with the previous mixer taps.

Any advice will be much appreciated. Our bathroom fitter is talking about us needing a new combi.

1. is the hot water flowing at a good rate and hot out of the basin at all.??

2. is it only warm water from the bath taps??

3. were the pipes to hot/cold bath taps flushed through before connection to taps(debris)???

4. is the isolation valve to hot water (bath tap) open fully??

5. was boiler and hot water working okay before refit????

just give a bit more information and i / we will be glad to help.

a new boiler sounds extreme at the moment.

Flow rate is ok, wouldn’t call it gushing but no different to before

2. is it only warm water from the bath taps??

There is hot tap and a cold tap, both are producing what is says on the tap (to coin a phrase). The problem occurs when we pull up the lever for the water to flow through the shower instead of into the bath. It appears the pressure isn’t strong enough from the hot to keep the lever up

3. were the pipes to hot/cold bath taps flushed through before connection to taps(debris)???

Don’t know – will have to ask the fitter

4. is the isolation valve to hot water (bath tap) open fully??

Cheers dazzab, hope that helps, much appreciated

when you do hot water from the bath tap does it come out ata a good rate.

try taking the shower attachment (hose and head) off and see how much hot water spouts out of outlet.
get some towels ready.
if this is okay then it is your shower hose or head.

get back to me soon.

Cheers dazzab,

fixed it, the washer to the head had not been cut cleanly, once the bits had been removed its now functional, not great but functional
