I need to build an odd shaped retaining wall with hard standing atop, as a bank is collapsing along our boundary. My question is mostly with regards to the geogrid requirements and suppliers of pre-cast blocks. My questions are based on reading the Anchor Bayfield installation notes.

The wall itself forms a triangle - the hardstanding at the top is perfectly flat and horizontal, however the pathway below it slopes off quite heavily.

Total length of the wall is roughly 10m, going from a height of just 0.5m increasing to 2.3m height at the other end. Given that for 1/2 it's length the wall is below the maximum height achievable before geogrid is needed, the third 1/4 is still within height limits but needs geogrid but that the last 1/3rd is higher than the suggested maximum even with geogrid.... Am I asking for disaster, and how would you go about doing the geogrid, by section or apply worst case to the whole wall?

Also, are there any cheaper alternative dry build pre cast blocks than the Anchor Bayfield ones? Really could have done without this expense at the moment so trying to minimise costs!!!
