Can anyone tell me how I remove the shower inlet plug from the actual shower unit?

Is the grey ring supposed to come off too?

I have tried everything but just cannot do it! Is it just a case of pulling it with force?

Push the grey ring towards the white bit and pull plug out. Looks like what you get on gainsborough showers if it is only use the shower head provided

Thanks. You have solved about 19 hours of frustration. I have been trying since last night and got it out first time after pushing in the grey thing.

Can I ask why I have to use the shower head provided (you are right, it's Gainsborough)?

You dont have to but you may notice a flow diff if you use another !!

The same way you removed the plug, pull the collar back towards the fitting and away from the pipe and pull pipe..

Gainsborough have a stupid pressure release valve, basically a ball of silicone and unless the proper head is used the prv shoots out and you get water everywhere.

Would not using the correct Gainsborough head cause the shower to malfunction in any way?

I ask this because I've just had to buy a new "internal engine". Don't know exactly what was wrong with the old one, but what would happen is:
- I'd turn on the electric and turn on the actual shower unit.
- Small squirts of water would shoot out, followed by a splurt of hot air.
- Small squirts of water would shoot out again.
- And the process starts over again.

I was not using the correct Gainsborough head...?
