Hi
I have a concrete base for a garden building but its a tad lumpy on the sides. The aggregate is fairly big (20mm) so the texture is similar to a rice crispy cake in places ;) It is solid but not too pretty cosmetically.

The question is can i give the sides a skim with a sand/cement mix to make it a bit more presentable?
If so, what ratio of sand to cement should i use and which type of sand, sharp or builders?

Advice would be muchly appreciated.

yes, you can render it.

mix 4 parts plastering sand to 1 part cement plus waterproofing additive.

you could add lime but i think it will be overkill in this scenario.

wet the surface first and allow it to soak in.

I like the 'rice crispy cake' analogy.

I suggest just painting it brown. Hmmmmm

Thanks for the replies guys.
The rice crispy cake seemed a good way to describe it.
If i dye the render brown it`d be more chocolate sponge afterwards ;)

Paint a horizontal white stripe halfway down and make into a chocolate cream sponge...
