HELP please

We live in the South and just purchased a home with lovely dark wooden stairs. Unfortunately our dogs cannot do the stairs, they slip. When I went to a wedding up north in Pennsylvania I noticed that some basement stairs had pieces of carpet, like a placemat of sorts, glued to the stairs. This seems like a better solution that carpet. I cannot find them in South Carolina. Do you have them? If not, do you know where I can find them?
