Hi,
my first post so be gentle as I am a DIY noob!

I need to replace a standard ceiling light with a multi-spot fitting.

Can anyone explain in (very) simple terms how to do this please?

Thanks for all help.

It's very important to isolate the supply in the first instance.
Make sure you have read through any instructions that came with the light fitting.
Also, make sure you are aware of the current connections. If you have a loop system, or an unmarked switch line it can get very confusing if you don't double check everything before disconnection.

If there are any problems other then this then let us know and we will help

thanks but the light came with zero instructions which is my problem!

this means i literally have no clue of what to do to fit it. if someone can provide basic wiring instructions that would be a big help seeing as these should have come with the light in the first place!

Well a picture of your existing and new would be really useful, but if thats not possible then can you give us a rundown of what you can see on the new fitting connections wise, number of terminals and colours..

... then the same for your existing light if poss..

have to agree with pictures, a "felt pen" to mark the cables helps.

picture info is in forum information
