Just bought a house at auction .no central heating exist in it.3 open fire places downstairs and two upstairs.three double beds upstairs, downstairs a kitchen, living, dinning and sitting rooms all same sized (like a dbl beds). no gas in the area. all floors are wooden apart from kitchen which is concrete(built in extension).please advice what central heating would be most suitable, cost effective and efficient? need to get hot water somehow as well. Full new electrical instalation will be there so maybe electric under floor heating?or a wet one with oil CH boiler? Many thanks

Personally, unless you are a maajor shareholder in your electricity supplier, I would avoid any form of electric heating

You appear to be in an area not fed by natural gas. You have the options of oil, LPG, or if you are loaded and have the space, a ground source heat pump, or maybe an air source pump.

The most common ones will be oil and LPG. Make sure you hav a 'legal' space to site the oil tank though. The most likely option will be a wet system, with either radiators, or if you have solid floors and can be bothered to gun them up, underfloor heating.

For HW you need to choose between either a combi boiler, gravity hE cylinder of unvented mains pressure (the most expensive and in my opinion the best), but to let this work properly you will need at least 20 l/min and a cold mains pressure of at least 3.5 Bar.

As posted, you need to get 3 quotes in to compare.
