Dismantling my garden shed

Afternoon all,

I need to remove a shed in an overgrown corner of the garden. According to our home survey the wood on the wooden rear panel is rotten and we need to shift it anyway to put in a garden office later in the year.

Fairly sturdy structure, with large window in the front panel - maybe 9 x 6 foot. Got that material on the roof which looks like tar paper with a fine covering of grit.

My problem is that looking at it, I don't know where to start in order to achieve it efficiently and safely and I am wondering if this is a specialised job that I should not be attempting. It was a case of "that'll be a few hours with a sledge hammer" when I first conceived the idea but now reality is dawning!

Any and all advice gratefully received - I am a total DIY newbie.

since you dont wan it try a crow bar

take the roof off first

take out the glass first to avoid accidents

be aware there will be lots of nails which can injure you or damage your saw

if you have space and no neighbours you can start a small fire and load the wood onto it in batches

has it got any interesting old things in it?

Thanks for the responses.

Given a total lack of suitable tools and a method for disposing with the shed, I am quite tempted to contact a local company who can dismantled and dispose of the shed for me.

only tools you need are a big pair of boots, and some matches..

alcohol helps also to fuel the "crush, kill, destroy" part of the psyche that mindless destruction comes from..

alternatively, go talk to a local hoodie and say he and his mates can trash the shed for you if they want.. it'll be down in minutes..

Buy a reciprocating saw/sawzall/all purpose saw/alligator saw. You can pick up a cheapie for about 30 quid, far cheaper than paying someone to do it, and lots of fun to boot.
