changing red chips to turf

Hi there looking for some advice on changing my back door from red chips to turf. I have aquried some relatively new turf from a friend in rolls or i will be soon. My back door the now consists of red chips with a polythene underneath. What i would like to know if it is possible that if i lifted the red chips could i relay the turf that has been growing for roughly 6 months so far onn top of the polythene. I am a beginner and looking for some advice.

wouldnt wood be better? never seen a door made from turf

This turf, it will die if you put it on polythene or any such barrier, take the barrier away
