I need to put a letter box in my flat door as the post is left in the hall do i need permission and what kind of letter box do i need to for the fire regs

Not sure if there are any regulations as such but in the past it was known for insurance companies to ask for cages fitted to the rear of the letterplate to AVOID risk of fire through arson attacks 
A bit extreme i know but if you're prone to arson attacks( ) then you could always fit a cage.
