Occasional fault (it 's OK more often than not). When a hot water tap is turned on the boiler fires up but the water is barely lukewarm - meanwhile hot water is sent to the radiators instead. It always works OK when the central heating is on. Do I replace the diverter valve or could it be the electronic board I wonder?

It's dirt in your diverter valve. The microswitch (which brings the boiler on) is on the end of the DV so the central shaft has to be moving for the switch to be operated. But it's the mechanics of the DV which decides where the water goes, not the PCB.
Solutions are to either strip down or replace the DV. Depends how "handy" you are. Potty want about £120 for the DV which is, er , more than I'd pay.
