I want to add a panel to my bedroom wall (covered in the same wallpaper), and put two strip lights horizontally either side under the edges, but i want to control them with a dimmer..... any ideas?

so, can any flourescent be put on a dimmer switch?

Normal ones no, unless you fit a dimmable ballast inside, or buy a H/f unit with a dimmable unit inside like the philips HFR range, as rs steve said they dim at 0 to 10 volt using a special dimmer switch.
