New light fitting (wires go where?)

I have wires from the electric mains.

red, black, green yellow.

Light fitting is

blue = neutral
brown = live
green yellow = earth

I know green yellow go together but were do i put the red and black from the mains.

Are you talking about a new light switch or a fitting on the ceiling? The way your post is worded indicates you have one cable, correct?

And you say green yellow - is this one wire (green & yellow) or two seperate ones? One green, one yellow?

just bought a new light fitting for the ceiling.

green yellow is the sleeve, covering a bare copper wire.
