Help needed: Removing glue from window surface

Hi There!

We have recently removed the lead criss cross strips from our double glazed windows. The lead peeled off pretty easily with careful use of a screwdriver. Unfortunatley it the glue is still on the glass where it was used to attach the lead strips. Has anyone got any tips on an appropriate solvent or glue removed to get rid of this?

I've had a quick skim thru the forum and can't see anything similar.

Methylated spirit or Evo-stick Glue Remover (strong vapour, so plenty ventilation ! )
