Hi,
I need to hang an internal door for a cuboard under the stairs. I need to trim about half to three quarters of an inch off the side of the door to make it fit width ways (the doorway is off standard - i didnt buy the wrong door).

Its a pine door from Wickes. Because the wood is soft, im a bit nervous about running a hand held circular saw down it to trim it as I think it might splinter the wood. I may be wrong about this of course.

Any tips on the best method to do this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Best to cut 3/8" on both edge of the door so the frame width will looks the same. Circ saw saw are okay providing it's sharp and cut it slowly, faster the blade, slower the cut. Do the cutting on the door upside down for a clean cut. I don't what you're like with a handsaw but I normally cut it with a sharp hand saw as I have done it for many years, a electric plane will also do it.
