Loud vibration in water pipes

Just recently after we flush the WC and the cistern has filled, (press button type), we get a loud fast vibration in the pipes which lasts for about 5 seconds. This also happens occasionly after we run the cold taps for a while. (No affect with the hot taps). We have not had any work done on the water system.

I am concerned that this may affect the Combi system if left too long. Does anyone have any suggestions to what I could do before calling a plumber?

How to cure water hammer

If you can identify which pipe is vibrating and there is a valve on the pipe to shut the supply off, you can also try closing the valve a bit to restrict the flow.
