Kitchen rebuild in 1920 semi - taken old ceiling down (filthiest job in the world) and just finishing rewire and re plumbing before re-boarding with 12.5mm plasterboard.
I was wondering about insulation when I saw one of those TV house makeover shows where they were doing a kitchen ceiling and they had jammed rockwool between the joists, I couldn't tell if they used foil backed boards or not.
This seemed like a good idea both in terms of heat and noise insulation, but would condensation be a problem? The bathroom and my office are above the kitchen.
Pro's and con's, or other solutions?

Thanks.

i'm halfway through diong my kitchen and for soundproofing i have put kingspan boards between the joists then 12.5mm foilbacked boards.
i can't use rockwool so the kingspan was just the job.

I take it you don,t like your upstairs to be warm then. ;)

Better to spend the money insulating the loft:cool:
