All advice much appreciated!

We have fitted beech worktops in our new kitchen and left a gap of 4mm between the wall and the worktop.

We want to have tiled splashbacks behind the sink and hob area - do we need to add additional beech trim (and how would that be attached - to the wall or to the worktop) to hide any gap between the bottom of the tiles and the worktop? Or should we tile right down to the top of the worktop ....

thanks in advance!

You can fit an upstand if you wish but this is just an aesthetic options. Generally a well fitted kitchen in my opinion should have a 5mm gap between the worktop and the first tile (filed with a bead of silicone) So that if you want to remove the worktop to change it the splashback doesn't need to be destroyed.

Thanks very much - that's very helpful - would use you a silicone bead even if the counter is wooden?

thanks again
