I have a Vaillant Turbo Max Combi Boiler and a sealed heating system. I want to add a radiator and renew a couple of others which are not very efficient any more. For this I need to drain the heating system to work on the plumbing of additional radiator and exchange of others. But in the meantime I need the combi to continue to supply hot water. Will my boiler continue to work?

In short no it wont.
Fit the new radiators before you drain down and pipe as much as possible before having to cut into the system.

the combi will work with just one rad..so you could drain down, cut and cap somewhere that leaves you one or what ever rads that you can fill..then leave other side empty to work on

The boiler has a built in bypass and it wont do it any harm running it on HW only just turn isolating valves off underneath and drain system

thanks for the responses!

So I guess my options are to:
1. try the isolation valves first to see if the hot water will function once the heating has been isolated and partially drained

2. drain the upstairs rads, remove and cap of the existing pipes. re-fill the system to allow hot water to flow

3. If none of the above will work, boil lots of kettles and survive for a few days during this glorious summer we're having!

thanks

Do all work that is possible before you have to drain system, then will only be without HW for a few mins.
