Hi
I have taken down a lean to construction and the party wall left to the elements need completing at the top 8 courses. The wall is into a roof space above my neighbours kitchen. I have insulated and re built the timber frame with treated 4"" / 2"" and cladded in sterling board. This now supports the roof joists where the rotten timber stud that I pulled out did before.
There is not alot of gap between this sterling and where the back of my single facing brick wall will be up to the fascia. The 1st course of bricks will sit next to the original wall plate which I have treated and is solid and my timber frame is fixed to.
Do I need to have a membrane on the wall plate and sterling board to stop any moisture from the bricks and mortar getting to or do I just brick up next to my timber wall.
What would a building inspector like to see. This may be asked of when we have future work.
Thanks Jason
